Where's my summer going? aka What happened to May?

Tue Jun 16, 2009, 6:47 PM
First of, I'd like to say thanks for I finally reached 1k pageviews. I commemorated this by taking a new deviant ID. I was suppose to take a picture of my new hairstyle but opted out for something to commemorate my new nickname and to thank the lovely ladies of the Electric Company who bestowed it upon me. My real name is Jinkies. It is in honor of my love of the color orange and everything Velma. I really due use the word Jinkies in conversation.

Shortly before the semester ended, I joined a social group on campus, known as The Electric Company, aka EC. They are the nicest ladies around and all have hearts of gold. Never let anyone ever tell you otherwise, ever. I have made some amazing friends through EC who are truly supportive and some very fun ladies.

I did some real photoshopping in my latest piece, Wait.... I had this idea awhile ago and it manifested itself along with my love of Velma into the work seen. I plan on trying this again with a few alterations, possible different characters and or different models (besides myself).

I'm going to paint again hopefully. But I need to focus on my Medical School application and reworking a paper for a philosophy conference.

My summer courses are taking up way too much time. I have even less time now than i did during the year. In addition, work has been really difficult for me lately. I feel physically exhausted and emotionally I just don't care anymore. I am excited about the fall production, but designing sound requires my creativity, engineering sound is just work to me.

Hopefully I can get the time to make some couch sized paintings and finish my Warhammer 40K miniatures sometime sooner than later. I just need to get over this summer cold.

STAR TREK!!!!

Wed May 6, 2009, 11:17 PM
I just finished my biggest piece yet. I rushed the color job, but I really wanted to get it finished before the movie came out. Star Trek Star Trek Star Trek Yay!

I presented the Star trek OC's that my friends and I have portrayed for years, with a few changes. Even though they are from the end of the 24th century, I wanted to draw them in the TOS era uniforms since the movie features the TOS crew.

1 Month, 2.5 pieces, 3 days til Spring Break

Tue Mar 10, 2009, 9:19 PM
I've completed two pieces since my last post. I've definitely slowed a down a little. This is mostly because I'm the sound designer for the theatre department for the semester, so I've been burying myself in music of the 60's for our latest show. Most of my creativity has been going there.

But I did get around to completing the art trade with ~nubecybot, Bathtime. I'm still waiting his piece, but it prolly doesn't help that I've been hogging the tablet with all the sketching that I've been trying to get done.

In addition, I've completed a Star Trek OC, Tzeka. I could continue down that path drawing up more of the Continuum crew, or I can try to finish the steampunk sketch I was working on, which decided to fight back and be unpleasant.

I've also finished the lineart for one of my favorite manga characters, Yomiko Readman. She's still a wip, but if I get the time during spring, she and many other pieces will be finished.

Now, I also listed that I'm going to draw some guys in a manga styling.... I'm not exactly sure how's that going to go yet..they'll probably end up in my steampunk or star trek series... cuz face it, guy's just aren't as interesting to draw. They're all square and inverted triangle-y, no curves or great big dewy eyes to draw.

Only three days til Spring Break, and it couldn't come sooner, I've pretty much had the two worst days of my life back to back this Sunday and Monday with all the snow and the twelve work day with the combination of a dance and daylight savings time....it just wasn't fun. I'm pretty much at the point where I just want to draw and forget all about science and school and work.

P.S.- And I'd like to thank everyone for all the views, Twilgiht Kiss received a bunch of views all of a sudden and I can't explain it. It makes want to go back and touch up that piece or take that idea and do it better, now that I know more of how photoshop works. But anyhow, thanks again.
